Does my house qualify for an SEAI grant by its age?
Most SEAI grants have a rule about when your home was built. The dates are not all the same, so it is worth knowing which applies to the grant you want.

The age rules, by grant
- Insulation, heat pump and solar: the home generally has to have been built and occupied before 2021.
- Windows and doors: the home has to have been built before 2011, and the walls and attic need to be well insulated already.
The idea is that these grants are for improving existing homes, so very new homes, which are already built to a high energy standard, are outside them.

Does my house have to be a certain age for an SEAI grant?
Usually yes. For insulation, heat pump and solar the home generally has to have been built and occupied before 2021. For windows and doors it has to have been built before 2011.
Why the 2011 date for windows and doors?
The windows and doors grant is aimed at older homes that already have good wall and attic insulation. The pre-2011 rule targets it at homes that predate the higher building standards.
My home is brand new, can I still get a grant?
Generally no. Very new homes are already built to a high energy standard, so they fall outside these grants.
How do I check the build date rule for my grant?
