What it is
Smart controls that match your heating and hot water to how you actually use the house, a flat €700 whatever the property type. The home needs an MPRN and must have been built and occupied before 2011. One thing to check before you go any further: you CANNOT get this if you are applying for, or have already claimed, a heat pump system grant. They are alternatives, not a pair. This one improves the heating system you have, the heat pump grant replaces it. Owner occupiers, companies, registered charities, holiday homes, Approved Housing Bodies and non-private landlords can all apply. Paid to you once the work is done, or taken off up front if a One Stop Shop manages it.
Who can get it
- You own the home, whether as an owner occupier, landlord, company, charity or Approved Housing Body (holiday homes also qualify)
- The home was built and occupied before 2011 and has an electricity connection (an MPRN)
- You use an SEAI registered contractor and apply before the work starts
- This grant adds smart controls to your existing heating system. It is not for replacing the system, that is the heat pump grant.
- You cannot get this grant if you are applying for, or have already claimed, a heat pump system grant.
- You have 8 months from your grant offer date to complete the works.
- A post-works BER is needed once the job is done.
- Manage it yourself with a registered contractor, or let a One Stop Shop handle it and take the grant off the price upfront.
