The cost of HRT medicines is covered by the State for anyone with a prescription.

What it is

Since 1 June 2025 the cost of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) medicines is covered for anyone with a prescription, to help with the menopause. You still need a Drugs Payment Scheme card or a medical card, and a small pharmacy dispensing fee of around €5 an item can still apply, but the medicine itself is free.
