0% VAT on solar panels

What it is
No VAT on the supply and fit of solar panels on a private home, since 1 May 2023, so the price you are quoted already has the VAT taken off.
Who can get it
- The panels are for a private dwelling (your home)
- They are supplied and installed together under one contract, the installer does both
- You are having a full solar panel system fitted, not just buying panels on their own
- The zero rate has applied since 1 May 2023 and covers both the panels and the installation when they come as one supply-and-install job.
- You do not claim anything, the installer applies 0% VAT, so it should already be reflected in your quote.
- It is separate from, and on top of, the SEAI Solar PV grant, so you can benefit from both.

Is there VAT on solar panels in Ireland?

Does it apply if I just buy the panels?
