Questions people ask

Who can apply for the women farmer grant?

You need to be over 18 and under 67 at the date you apply, and identified as female on the department's CCM system. The scheme covers one holding only. Applications go in online through your agfood.ie account.

How much is it worth?

You get 60% of approved costs instead of the standard 40%. On a €30,000 investment that is €18,000 rather than €12,000. The ceiling is €90,000, or €160,000 for a registered farm partnership, with a separate €90,000 for nutrient storage on top.

What is covered by the scheme?

The same full cross-sector list as the Young Farmer scheme. Animal housing, nutrient storage, silage, dairy equipment, tillage machinery, pig and poultry, equine and sheep fencing are all eligible at 60%. Sheep handling equipment is the exception, and that comes from the Farm Safety Scheme.

What are my chances of being selected?

Good on recent form: 75% of eligible applications under this scheme were selected in Tranche 12. Ranking and Selection applies where more arrive than the budget allows, so it is not automatic. Tranche 13 closes on 4 September 2026 and Tranche 14 on 4 December 2026.
