What it is
Grant aid at 40% for tillage equipment and storage: grain stores, dryers, elevators and mills, GPS-ready sprayers and fertiliser spreaders, min-till and direct drills, and potato planting, grading and storage gear. Ceiling €90,000, €160,000 for a partnership. You need at least 15 hectares of eligible land.
Who can get it
- You have at least 15 hectares of declared land, and at least 15 hectares of eligible crops for tillage-related investments. Both apply.
- You are spending at least €2,000 in the application.
- You are buying from the tillage list, such as a grain store, grain bins, a grain dryer, elevators and augers, a sprayer, a GPS control unit, a min till, direct or strip till drill, a harrow, a roller, potato equipment, a weather station or a weighbridge.
- You apply online through your agfood.ie account before the tranche closes. Tranche 13 closes 4 September 2026 and Tranche 14 closes 4 December 2026.
- 15 hectares is a hard floor. Below that you cannot apply to this scheme at all, whatever you are buying.
- 70% of eligible applications were selected in Tranche 12, one of the better rates in TAMS 3 and well ahead of Dairy Equipment at 20%.
- Potato growers are well covered. Planter, destoner, bed tiller, grading line, box filler and tipper, reception hopper and cleaner, haulm topper, seed potato store, ambient ventilation, refrigeration, drying wall, store insulation and temperature controls are all eligible.
- Precision equipment counts. GPS ready mounted, trailed and self-propelled sprayers, GPS control units, tractor and combine steering control, yield monitors and an inter row laser guidance weeder hoe system are on the list.
- The minimum spend is €2,000 and you can put in more than one application in the same tranche.

Questions people ask
How many hectares do I need for the tillage grant?
A minimum of 15 hectares. That is a condition of the Tillage Capital Investment Scheme and there is no way around it. If you are below 15 hectares you will need to look at other TAMS 3 schemes instead.
How much is the tillage grant worth?
It pays 40% of your approved costs. The ceiling is €90,000 per holding, or €160,000 for a registered farm partnership. The minimum spend on any one application is €2,000.
Is potato equipment covered?
Yes, and in detail. Potato planters, destoners, bed tillers, eco tillers, grading lines, box fillers, retail bag fillers, box tippers, reception hoppers and cleaners, haulm toppers, intake and main webs, separator segments and seed potato stores are eligible, along with ventilation, refrigeration, drying walls, insulation and temperature controls for the store.
What are my chances of being selected?
Reasonably good. 70% of eligible tillage applications were selected in Tranche 12. Where more arrive than the budget allows, Ranking and Selection applies, so approval is not guaranteed.
