TAMS 3 Pig and Poultry Investment Scheme
A grant of 40% of your approved costs, with a ceiling of €500,000 per holding, which is the largest ceiling in TAMS 3.

What it is
Grant aid at 40% for pig and poultry investments, with its own much higher ceiling of €500,000 rather than the usual TAMS figure. It covers housing, ventilation and control systems, insulation, heat recovery and heat pumps, feed and water systems, medicine dispensers and weighing gear.
Who can get it
- You have at least 20 production units. There is no hectares route into this scheme.
- You farm pigs or poultry, with a Pig Herd Number or a Department poultry identifier.
- Pig farmers also need a Pig Census return, TASAH Bio-Check biosecurity and WebHat, a tail-biting welfare risk assessment, antimicrobial usage returns for two of the three preceding quarters, and Bord Bia Pig Quality Assurance membership.
- You are spending at least €2,000 in the application.
- You are buying from the pig and poultry list, such as ventilation systems and fans, heat recovery units, air source heat pumps, a biomass boiler, wall and roof insulation, feed and water systems, farrowing, weaner, grower and finisher housing, or ammonia scrubbers.
- You apply online through your agfood.ie account before the tranche closes. Tranche 13 closes 4 September 2026 and Tranche 14 closes 4 December 2026.
- The ceiling is €500,000 per holding, the largest in TAMS 3. The much lower figure still sitting on the older gov.ie pig and poultry page belongs to the legacy TAMS II scheme and does not apply here.
- That €500,000 includes the €90,000 you could otherwise claim in the other schemes. It is one overall ceiling for the holding rather than an extra allowance on top.
- It does sit on top of the stand-alone ceilings. The €40,000 for Low Emission Slurry Spreading and the €90,000 for Solar are still available in addition.
- A registered farm partnership gets the same €500,000. That figure is not increased for partnerships.
- 75% of eligible applications were selected in Tranche 12, so the odds are reasonable, though Ranking and Selection still applies when applications outstrip the budget.

Is the pig and poultry ceiling really €500,000?
Yes. Under TAMS 3 the ceiling is €500,000 per holding, and it stays at €500,000 for a registered farm partnership. A much lower ceiling appears on the older gov.ie pig and poultry page, but that page covers the legacy TAMS II scheme. If you have been planning around the old figure, you have far more headroom than you thought.
Can I claim solar and slurry spreading as well?
Yes. The €500,000 includes the €90,000 available under the other schemes, but the Solar ceiling of €90,000 and the Low Emission Slurry Spreading ceiling of €40,000 are stand-alone and come on top of it.

A long list. Ventilation systems and fans for broiler, layer, breeder, turkey and duck houses, heat recovery units, air source heat pumps, biomass boilers, wall and roof insulation, insulated doors, energy efficient lighting, wet-feed mixing systems, computerised feed control, troughs, drinkers, medicine dispensers, dry sow, free farrowing, weaner, grower and finisher housing, ammonia scrubbers, wheel wash systems and fallen animal cold storage.
