TAMS 3 Organic Capital Investment Scheme
A grant of 40% of your approved costs if you are a licensed organic operator, or 60% if you are also a current participant in the Organic Farming Scheme, up to €90,000 on one holding or €160,000 for a registered farm partnership.
Last checked August 2026
What it is
Grant aid at 40% for licensed organic operators, rising to 60% if you are also a current participant in the Organic Farming Scheme. It covers the animal housing and storage list plus organic-specific kit: polytunnels, fixed and mobile free-range poultry houses, produce and potato stores, mechanical weeders and crop netting. Ceiling €90,000, €160,000 for a partnership.
Who can get it
- You have at least 3 hectares of eligible land, or 1 hectare if you are a horticulture producer, or 20 production units for an intensive enterprise.
- You are a licensed organic operator, which puts you on the 40% rate.
- You are also a current participant in the Organic Farming Scheme, if you want the 60% rate.
- You are spending at least €2,000 in the application.
- You are buying from the organic list, which carries the full animal housing, nutrient storage and silage list plus organic-only items.
- You apply online through your agfood.ie account before the tranche closes. Tranche 13 closes 4 September 2026.
- The 60% rate is not automatic. A press release in August 2026 quoted a flat 60% for this scheme. The scheme page and the terms and conditions are the authority and they are stricter: 60% only if you are also in the Organic Farming Scheme, 40% for every other licensed organic operator.
- Nutrient storage is at 60% under this scheme, and it has its own dedicated €90,000 ceiling (€160,000 for a registered farm partnership) sitting alongside the general one.
- The item list is wide. You get the full Animal Welfare and Nutrient Storage list plus organic-only items: polytunnel, irrigation system, fixed and mobile organic free range laying hen and broiler houses, pig kennels, permanent pig fencing, produce and potato stores, insect, bird and hail netting, and flame, brush, rotary cultivator and combcut weeders.
- Sheep mesh and mountain sheep mesh fencing are on this list. Sheep handling equipment is not. Sheep handling units, footbaths, weighing scales and rollover crates come only from the Farm Safety Scheme, which pays 60%.
- 75% of eligible applications were selected in Tranche 12, one of the better rates of the eleven schemes.

Questions people ask
Is the organic grant 40% or 60%?
It depends on what you are in. A licensed organic operator gets 40%. If you are also a current participant in the Organic Farming Scheme, you get 60%. A press release in August 2026 quoted a flat 60%, but the scheme page and the terms and conditions are more precise and they are the ones that count.
What can I buy with it?
The full Animal Welfare and Nutrient Storage list of housing, nutrient storage and silage items, plus organic-specific items. Those include polytunnels, irrigation systems, fixed and mobile organic free range laying hen and broiler houses, permanent fencing for an organic poultry run, pig kennels, hay, straw, produce and potato stores, mowers, toppers, haybobs, forage rakes and tedders, and a range of mechanical weeders.
Is there extra money for slurry storage?
Yes. Nutrient storage is grant aided at 60% and carries a separate dedicated ceiling of €90,000, or €160,000 for a registered farm partnership, on top of the general €90,000. Storage work does not use up the budget you want for housing or machinery.
Are polytunnels covered?
Yes. A polytunnel is on the organic-specific list, as is an irrigation system. Insect netting, bird and hail netting, a two-wheeled tractor with detachable rotary tiller and an inter row laser guidance weeder hoe system are eligible as well. The minimum spend on an application is €2,000.
