TAMS 3 Nutrient Importation Storage Scheme
A grant of 70% of your approved costs, the highest rate in TAMS 3, up to €90,000 on one holding or €160,000 for a registered farm partnership, and it is stand-alone so it does not affect your other TAMS 3 ceilings.
Last checked August 2026
What it is
Grant aid at 70%, the highest rate in TAMS, for storing imported slurry, soiled water and farmyard manure: circular slurry stores, precast concrete tanks with covers, geo-membrane lined stores, manure pits and protective fencing. Ceiling €90,000 for individuals and €160,000 for Registered Farm Partnerships. It sits separate from your other TAMS ceilings, so it does not eat into them.
Who can get it
- You have at least 5 hectares declared under BISS, or 20 production units.
- You are putting up storage for imported animal excreta, soiled water or farmyard manures.
- You are spending at least €2,000 in the application.
- You are buying from the scheme list, such as a circular slurry store, a geo membrane lined store, a precast concrete tank including cover, a store cover with submersible pump, a manure pit with or without walls, a manure pit roof or ancillary concrete.
- You apply online through your agfood.ie account before the tranche closes. Tranche 13 closes 4 September 2026 and Tranche 14 closes 4 December 2026.
- 70% is the highest grant rate in TAMS 3. Nothing else in the eleven schemes pays more.
- It is stand-alone. The €90,000 here does not affect the ceilings on any other TAMS 3 scheme, so it sits on top of what you can claim elsewhere.
- It is specifically for imported material. The storage has to be for animal excreta, soiled water and farmyard manures brought in. Storage for slurry your own stock produces sits under the Animal Welfare and Nutrient Storage Scheme at 60%.
- Small extras count. A protective fence for the slurry store including the gate, the store cover, the tank volume and ancillary concrete are all on the eligible list.
- The minimum spend is €2,000, applications run in tranches through agfood.ie, and Ranking and Selection applies where the applications outstrip the budget.

Questions people ask
What is the highest grant rate in TAMS 3?
This one. The Nutrient Importation Storage Scheme pays 70% of approved costs, which is the highest rate across the eleven TAMS 3 schemes. The ceiling is €90,000 per holding, or €160,000 for a registered farm partnership.
Does this scheme use up my other TAMS money?
No. It is stand-alone and does not affect your other TAMS 3 ceilings. You can use the €90,000 here and still have your general €90,000 for housing and equipment, along with the separate Low Emission Slurry Spreading and Solar ceilings.
What can I build with it?
Circular slurry stores, including the store cover and the volume of the tank, geo membrane lined stores, precast concrete tanks including the cover, a store cover with submersible pump, a protective fence for the store including the gate, manure pits with walls, manure pits with no wall, manure pit roofs and ancillary concrete.
Is this for my own slurry?
No, this scheme is for storing imported animal excreta, soiled water and farmyard manures. If you are building storage for what your own stock produces, look at the Animal Welfare and Nutrient Storage Scheme, which pays 60% on nutrient storage and has its own dedicated €90,000 storage ceiling.
