Pyrite Remediation Scheme
The scheme pays in full for testing and repairing a home damaged by pyritic heave. It refunds up to €700 of the Building Condition Assessment you need to apply, up to €6,000 of alternative accommodation and up to €2,500 for moving and storing furniture.

What it is
Pays for the testing and repair work in full if pyritic heave in the floor hardcore damaged your home. It also refunds up to €700 of the engineer's damage report you need to apply. For homes built between 1 January 1997 and 12 December 2013 that were bought before 12 December 2013, anywhere in Dublin or in Kildare, Meath, Offaly, Limerick or Westmeath. The damage has to be certified as a damage condition rating of 2, or a rating of 1 where the damage is still progressing. Applications close 30 November 2026.
Who can get it
- You own the affected home, on your own or jointly
- The home is in Dublin, Kildare, Meath, Offaly, Limerick or Westmeath
- It was built between 1 January 1997 and 12 December 2013 and bought before 12 December 2013
- A Building Condition Assessment certifies the damage: a damage condition rating of 2, or a rating of 1 where the damage is still progressing
- The scheme pays for the testing and the repair work itself. The Building Condition Assessment you need to apply is refunded up to €700 once your home is accepted.
- If you have to move out during the work, up to €2,000 a month and €6,000 in total is refunded for alternative accommodation, plus up to €2,500 for moving and storing furniture.
- The repair usually means lifting the ground floor, removing and replacing the affected hardcore, and reinstating the floor.
- Applications close on 30 November 2026, so affected owners should apply in good time.
