€299 a week for two weeks, taken together, in the baby's first 6 months.
What it is
Two weeks' payment for a parent taking paternity leave in the baby's first 6 months.
Who can get it
- You are employed or self-employed and taking paternity leave
- You are covered by social insurance (PRSI) at the right class
- It is available to same-sex couples too
Good to know
- The two weeks must be taken together and cannot start before the birth.
- Apply within 26 weeks of the birth or adoption.
- The payment is taxable if you pay tax, but no USC or PRSI is charged on it.
