€299 a week for up to 9 weeks per parent. You can take it in one block or a week at a time.

What it is
Up to 9 weeks' payment per parent during parent's leave in the child's first 2 years.
Who can get it
- You are an employed or self-employed parent taking parent's leave
- You have enough PRSI contributions
- Your child is under 2, or it is within 2 years of an adoption
- Your child has a PPS number
- Employees usually need 39 weeks of PRSI paid, self-employed need 52 Class S contributions.
- You apply within six months of taking your parent's leave.
- You can take it after Maternity Benefit ends. It is taxable if you pay tax, but no USC or PRSI is charged.
