A one-off €280 for a new baby, paid on top of the first month of Child Benefit.
What it is
A one-off €280 payment for every new baby that qualifies for Child Benefit, on top of the first month's payment.
Who can get it
- Your baby qualifies for Child Benefit
- Your baby was born on or after 1 December 2024
- You meet the Habitual Residence Condition
Good to know
- It is paid automatically with your first Child Benefit payment, so you do not apply separately if you are already getting Child Benefit.
- Child Benefit itself is €140 a month for each child.
- If your baby is born in Ireland, the claim usually starts on its own once the birth is registered.
