What it is
Ireland's national music education programme for children and young people. Subsidised performance music tuition across many instruments and styles, run locally through Music Education Partnerships. What is on offer and what it costs depend on your area.
Who can get it
- You are a child or young person, or a parent or guardian looking for music tuition for one
- You live in one of the 29 areas of the country where Music Generation runs
- You want to learn an instrument, sing or play, from beginner level up
- It is delivered locally through Music Education Partnerships, led by the Education and Training Boards, so what is available differs from area to area.
- It covers a wide range of instruments and musical styles, over 200 programmes across the country.
- It reached around 132,500 children and young people in 2024.
