A grant of 60% of your approved costs on low emission spreading equipment, up to €40,000 on one holding or €60,000 for a registered farm partnership, and it does not come out of the standard €90,000 TAMS 3 ceiling.

What it is
Grant aid at 60% for low-emission slurry gear: trailing shoe and shallow injection attachments with macerator, slurry tankers, umbilical systems, lay-flat hose and flow meters. Its ceiling is separate at €40,000, €60,000 for a partnership, and does not come out of your €90,000 TAMS ceiling.
Who can get it
- You have at least 5 hectares, or 60 pig production units.
- You are spending at least €2,000 in the application.
- You are buying from the LESS list, such as a slurry tanker, a mobile slurry tank with attachment, a trailing shoe or shallow injection attachment with macerator, an inlet chopper, a flow meter, an umbilical system or lay flat hose.
- You apply online through your agfood.ie account before the tranche closes. Tranche 13 closes 4 September 2026 and Tranche 14 closes 4 December 2026.
- This scheme has its own €40,000 ceiling and it is explicitly outside the standard €90,000 TAMS 3 ceiling. Money spent here leaves your housing and storage budget fully intact.
- The partnership figure is €60,000, not the €160,000 you see in most other TAMS schemes. Worth checking before you plan a joint purchase.
- Only 10% of eligible applications were selected in Tranche 12, the joint lowest in TAMS 3, level with Solar. Nine out of ten farmers who applied did not get in.
- You can retrofit instead of replacing. A retrofit trailing shoe attachment for a tanker you already own is on the list, as is a hydraulic motor to substitute the PTO shaft.
- The minimum spend is €2,000 per application, and more than one application per tranche is allowed.

Does the slurry spreading grant come out of my €90,000?
No. Low Emission Slurry Spreading is explicitly not subject to the overall €90,000 TAMS 3 ceiling. It has its own ceiling of €40,000, or €60,000 for a registered farm partnership. You can claim it and still have your full €90,000 for housing, storage and other works.
How much do I get for a trailing shoe?
The rate is 60% of your approved costs, up to the €40,000 ceiling. A trailing shoe attachment with macerator is eligible, and so is a retrofit trailing shoe attachment fitted to a tanker you already have. Shallow injection attachments with macerator are on the list too.
Do I qualify for the LESS scheme?
You need at least 5 hectares, or 60 pig production units. The minimum spend on an application is €2,000. Applications are made online through your agfood.ie account before the tranche closing date.
What are my chances of getting approved?
Slim. Only 10% of eligible applications were selected in Tranche 12, the joint lowest in TAMS 3. Where more arrive than the budget allows, Ranking and Selection decides who is funded. It is still worth applying, but do not order equipment on the strength of a submitted application.
