What it is
Larger conservation works on significant historic buildings. For 2026 the fund focuses on grants of €50,000 to €200,000; smaller jobs go to the Built Heritage scheme above.
Who can get it
- The building is a protected structure on the Record of Protected Structures, proposed for it, in an Architectural Conservation Area, or (in exceptional cases) near a National Monument
- The project is a larger conservation, refurbishment or reuse scheme with a clear community, public or residential benefit
- You can meet the co-funding share, the fund does not cover the whole cost
- For 2026 the fund runs only the larger stream, €50,000 to €200,000. Smaller repairs go to the Built Heritage Investment Scheme instead.
- You apply through your local authority's conservation office, which assesses and forwards applications to the Department.
- It is competitive and paid on a reimbursement basis, so you fund the work and claim it back.
