How much is the Historic Structures Fund?

For 2026 it offers grants of €50,000 to €200,000 for larger conservation projects. Smaller works go to the Built Heritage Investment Scheme.

What buildings qualify?

Protected structures on the Record of Protected Structures, those proposed for it, structures in Architectural Conservation Areas, and in exceptional cases structures near National Monuments.

How do I apply?

Through your local authority's conservation office, which assesses applications and forwards them to the Department. It runs in a yearly round.

Does it cover the full cost?

No. It is co-funded and paid on a reimbursement basis, so you carry out the work and claim the grant back.
