What it is

Grants for the conservation, maintenance, protection and promotion of archaeological monuments such as forts, castles, abbeys and historic graveyards, for owners, custodians and community groups, applied for through your local authority. The 2027 round has four streams. Stream 1 gives up to €130,000 for essential repairs and capital works. Stream 2 gives up to €30,000 for conservation management plans and reports. Stream 3 gives up to €30,000 for access infrastructure and interpretation. Stream 4 is a pilot giving up to €10,000 to monitor conservation works the fund paid for earlier. The monument must be on the Record of Monuments and Places or the Sites and Monuments Record. Applications close on 5 February 2027, so contact your local authority heritage officer first.
